چکیده

In this work the results of a pedestrian counterflow experiment in a corridor of a width of 2 meter are presented. 67 participants were divided into two groups with varying relative and absolute size and walked in opposite direction through a corridor. The video footage taken from the experiment was evaluated for passing times, walking speeds, fluxes and lane-formation including symmetry breaking. The results include comparatively large fluxes and speeds as well as a maximal asymmetry between leftand right-hand traffic. The sum of flow and counterflow in any case turns out to be larger than the flow in all situations without counterflow.

Pedestrian-Robot Interaction Experiments in an Exit Corridor

The study of human-robot interaction (HRI) has received increasing research attention for robot navigation in pedestrian crowds. In this paper, we present empirical study of pedestrian-robot interaction in an uni-directional exit corridor. We deploy a mobile robot moving in a direction perpendicular to that of the pedestrian flow, and install a pedestrian motion tracking system to record the co...

Simulation of pedestrian dynamics using a 2-dimensional cellular automaton

We propose a 2-dimensional cellular automaton model to simulate pedestrian traffic. It is a vmax = 1 model with exclusion statistics and parallel dynamics. Long-range interactions between the pedestrians are mediated by a so called floor field which modifies the transition rates to neighbouring cells. This field, which can be discrete or continuous, is subject to diffusion and decay. Furthermor...

Modeling micro-macro pedestrian counterflow in heterogeneous domains

We present a micro-macro strategy able to describe the dynamics of crowds in heterogeneous media. Herein we focus on the example of pedestrian counterflow. The main working tools include the use of mass and porosity measures together with their transport as well as suitable application of a version of Radon-Nikodym Theorem formulated for finite measures. Finally, we illustrate numerically our m...

Counterflow Extension for the F.A.S.T.-Model

The F.A.S.T. (Floor field and Agent based Simulation Tool) model is a microscopic model of pedestrian dynamics [1], which is discrete in space and time [2, 3]. It was developed in a number of more or less consecutive steps from a simple CA model [4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10]. This contribution is a summary of a study [11] on an extension of the F.A.S.T-model for counterflow situations. The extensions ...

Cellular Automata Based Model for Pedestrian Dynamics

We construct a two dimensional Cellular Automata based model for the description of pedestrian dynamics. Wide range of complicated pattern formation phenomena in pedestrian dynamics are described in the model, e.g. lane formation, jams in a counterflow and egress behavior. Mean-field solution of the densely populated case and numerical solution of the sparsely populated case are provided. This ...
